The American Mathematics Competitions are a series of examinations and curriculum materials that build problem-solving skills and mathematical knowledge in middle and high school students. There are different levels, specifically AMC10 and AMC12. Many students who are ambitious in becoming a future engineer, computer science related jobs, accountings, or math apply this competition to improve their problem-solving skills and mathematical concepts.

Competition dates: November

Recommended preparation length: 6 months ~ 1 year

Difficulty: ★★★★★

impactfulness: ★★★★☆

Popularity: ★★★★★

Tips from past winners:

It's super hard to pass AMC12, but if you intend to major in engineering or science, it's highly recommended to study AMC. Moreover, AMC and school math are very different. See them separately.

CEMC Mathematics
Competition

CEMC has a similar format as AMC has. Generally, the questions are much easier and straightforward, but the level of difficulty suddenly increases at the end of the questions. Cheongna Dalton School annually hosts CEMC math competitions, and many students have received certificates from this competition. For those who are beginning to learn more about math, CEMC math competition is a great opoourtunity to embark on your passion towards math.

Please refer to the guidelines and FAQ of CJSJ before you start and submit the application. Moreover, submitting the application as a team is also possible, for one person could be the main author and the other could be the co-author. Again, please refer to the guidelines and FAQ for more information.

Korea Science & Engineering Fair (KSEF)

KSEF stands for the Korean Science and Engineering Fair, which provides opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school students to participate in a Korea Science Fair and subsequently qualify for the International Science Fair (ISEF). Through research projects, the program aims to cultivate students' passion, motivation, and investigative skills as they strive towards excellence. By fostering creativity, KSEF contributes to the development of global scientific talent, aiming to nurture capable scientists for the future. KSEF is one of the most famous science competitions in Korea, and it’s worth your effort and time. If you’re interested in STEM & engineering, please join!

Genius Olympiad – Korea

Please read the document thoroughly and get all the requirements for the contest.
Genius Olympiad is another science competition hosted by 한국과학기술지원단.

This competition might be much better than KSEF as international schools students have more advantages in English writing and presentation. However, be aware that once you get to the finalist and the winner of the contest, you must go to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), situated in the USA, to complete the competition.
